KVK Peren conducted the 9th SAC Meeting The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Peren successfully conducted the 9th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting at the Conference Hall, College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, CAU, Jalukie on 10.03.2026. This meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Dr. H. Kalita, Head of the Regional Centre, ICAR Nagaland Centre, Medziphema. The chairperson, Shri. Z. James Kikon, CTO- Soil Science, successfully directed the meeting. Dr. K.L. Meena,Principal Scientist & Head, KVK Peren, Program Coordinator, facilitated the guests and gave thewelcome address. Later, he presentedKVK’s activities, achievements for 2025, and the KVK's interventions in the promotion and shaping of farmers' skills through various trainings & inputs distributions. All the subject-matter Specialist staff of KVK Peren: Dr. L. Babita Devi (CTO, Animal Science), Shri. James Kikon (CTO, Soil Science), Dr. Prashant Kalal (SMS, Fruit Science), and Dr. Akshay Ujjwal (SMS, Agronomy) have presented their respective Annual Progress Reports for 2025 and Annual Action Plans for 2026, which outline various agricultural technologies suitable for the Peren district. The meeting was graced by Dr. Girish Patil S., Director, NRC Mithun,Medziphema, as a special guest, who discussed current technologies suitable for the farmers' community, andprovidedhis valuable scientific recommendations to the SMS of KVK Peren. Shri. Hiazu Meru, Deputy Commissioner, Peren, graced the meeting as the guest of honour, who applauded the role and efforts of KVK in shaping farmers' skills and attitude in agriculture. He suggested to the KVK staffthe inclusion of new technologies that fulfill the needs of the local tribal farmers. Dr. A. K. Mohanty, Director, ATARI Zone-VII, Umiam, Meghalaya, attended the meeting virtually and gave his valuable technical advice and recommendations to all subject matter specialists. Dr. I. Shakuntala, Dean, CoVSc&AH, CAU, Jalukie, graced the meeting as the guest of honour, who gave her scientific advice to the staff. Dean extended their support for the smooth conduct of the meeting on the campus.Dr. Aabon W. Yanthan, Scientist (Horticulture Vegetable Science), ICAR Nagalnd Centre, provided the technical feedback and recommendations related to the technologies. Other state and ICAR KVKs witnessed the SAC meeting through virtual mode. Agriculture and allied departments officers of the Peren district,Dr. ZieleigaiNdang(DAO Peren), Shri Ruville (NSRLM), Ms. C. Dory Yanthan (DFO/PD-ATMA, Peren), officers of Sericulture, NSRLM, Co-operations departments, FPO, and farmersattended the meeting.All the members of the SAC meeting actively discussed the district's current agricultural status, challenges, and solutions. The chairman of the meeting, Dr. H. Kalita (HoRC, ICAR Nagaland Centre), concludes the meeting by providing all the technical information to the KVK Peren.At the end, Dr. Prashant Kalal (SMS, Fruit Science),KVK Peren, gave the vote of thanks.
